The brass heart charms are made by a small company in New England and oxidized by Fallen Brass Angel, located here in the USA.  It is made to wear over time to a vintage brassy copper tone.  If you want to prevent this, make sure to remove before showering, swimming, exercising and sleeping.  Prolonged contact with lotions, sweat, water and skin can rub off the patina.
